Rebates provide another form of discounts for consumers off the final selling price. For example, HP offer's rebates off their computers so it really wouldnt seem that expensive when you buy it. It puts the customer in the mind frame of at least they will get some money back but reality is that most customer's does not even bother with sending their rebates back.
